Fortune telling, also known as the ‘sacred lottery,’ is the most significant part of the Japanese cultural and tradition surrounding temples and shrines. The fortune vending machine, where people pray for a better outcome, is fast becoming the standard device for temples in Japan, where people pray for an event to take place as better outcome. This project aims to create a packaging design for a fortune telling vender, which combines its unique Japanese traditional style with the contemporary in an effort to communicate the magical experience of fortune telling.
