Think Dyslexic
Carla Sy
“It seems that the crisis that dyslexia first appears to be is simply an opportunity in disguise.”
- Canterbury Chamber of Commerce CEO Peter Townsend
My source of inspiration for this project was when I stumbled upon a wealth of influential and successful individuals that would not have achieved what they did achieve if it wasn’t for their dyslexia.
This knowledge made me wonder, if their success was driven by their dyslexia then what specific skills and qualities did dyslexia have to offer these people that lead them to where they are, and why aren’t people more aware and appreciative of the benefits of dyslexia. Coincidentally dyslexic skills and qualities are what most employers and businesses are on look out for, and my initiative is to promote these skills and qualities as an invaluable asset to business growth and success.
As a graphic designer I want to change the way people perceive dyslexia. Through the means of visual communication I want to create awareness and an appreciation for dyslexia by highlighting and promoting the specific skills and qualities that it can provide.
