This project is all about changing perceptions and increasing awareness of the little known and misunderstood sport of Orienteering. This is a fun, challenging, exciting, adventurous and competitive sport, but is either unknown or is viewed as an ‘activity’ in New Zealand.

By designing a fun and easy to use interactive media application, I am providing a new and interesting way of introducing and demonstrating Orienteering, dispelling the ‘geeky’ and ‘not a real sport’ myths. It includes games to reinforce learning, and while it is mainly targeted at teenagers in New Zealand, it is also a very useful tool for any newcomer to the sport.

What is on display is a prototype, with the intention of producing a final, edited version for use early next year.
